The names of three teenagers charged with raping a 16-year-old girl near a Gwinnett County school became public Thursday.
Darriah Mitchell, Tavien Hartwell and William Thompson will be prosecuted as adults in connection with a May 3 incident near South Gwinnett High School, according to Channel 2 Action News.
A fourth teen, Cameron Richard, was named earlier because 17-year-olds are typically charged as adults in Georgia.
“It just makes it a little easier because my guy is not the only face of this,” defense attorney Wesley Person told Channel 2. “But this case is going to go forward in the same way before their names were known.”
The victim told police she left school with the four teenagers and went to a nearby bus lot off Skyland Drive, where “some or all of the five people in this case [went] for the purposes of doing drugs,” Snellville police Chief Roy Whitehead previously said.
