On 19 August 2016, the Port Nolloth Regional Court sentenced Elvis Joseph to life imprisonment for raping a 12-year-old boy.
It was on 31 October 2016 when a member of the public who was on his way to Alexender Bay was approached by a boy who appeared to be traumatised. He immediately took him to the police station when the boy told police how the suspect took him to a toilet and raped him.
It was though a meticulous investigation done by Sergeant Shaun Brandt of Port Nolloth FCS Unit that a life sentence was secured.
The Cluster Commander of Namaqua Cluster, Brigadier Francis Hender commended Sergeant Brandt for his dedication and for his sterling efforts in ensuring that the perpetrator is sentenced for life.
This sentence will serve as a deterrent to other criminals of sexual offenses.
