KENDRAPADA: Police on Friday arrested two youths on the charges of raping a 15-year-old girl in Baradanga village under Mahakalapada police limits of Kendrapada district when she had gone out to relieve herself.
The accused have been identified as Umakanta Rout, 22, and Pralaya Das, 30. They gang-raped her on Thursday evening. On Friday, the survivor revealed this incident to her mother and her father lodged an FIR in the police station, said sub-divisional police officer (SDPO) of Kendrapada Purnachandra Pradhan.
"During interrogation , both the accused persons confessed that they followed her and then took her to a lonely place where they repeatedly raped her. They also threatened to kill her if she told anyone about the incident," added the police officer.
Police booked both the accused under Section- 376 (g) (gang rape ) of IPC and Sections 4 and 6 of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act , 2012.
The survivor was taken to the government hospital in Kendrapada, where doctors conducted her medical examination. Both the accused persons were produced in the district and sessions court at Kendrapada on Friday. The court rejected their bail applications and remanded them in jail custody.
