Shockingly, when the victim went to his room, another batchmate raped her and warned her of dire consequences if she reports anyone about the incident
New Delhi, October 22: In yet another case of crime against females, two engineering students raped their 21-year-old classmate on the outskirts of the Pune city.
Pune district police apprehended the two culprits while another was detained on charges of sending obscene messages to the victim girl.
The victim was Raisoni Engineering College's first-year student and was raped by Karan Ghuge and Mahesh Korde.
The police report stated that Ghuge is a third-year student while Korde is a batchmate of the victim. Another third-year student, Avinash Shelke, was arrested for sending lewd messages.
A police officer was quoted as saying, “On October 19, when the girl was returning to her hostel, one of the two accused, who is an engineering student, requested her to help him with a project.”
The incident took place when the victim asked Ghuge to lend him project-related files. On being informed that he could not find the files, the girl went to the room of the boy and then was raped by him, reported police officials.
On the very next day, the victim informed her classmate Mahesh Korde who asked her to immediately filed an FIR against the culprits and come to his hostel room. Shockingly, when she went to his room, he also raped her and warned of dire consequences if she reports anyone about the incident.
After another horrific episode, the victim started getting vulgar texts from anonymous numbers, which finally prompted her to open up to her sister and roommates, police said.
A case has been filed under section 376 (rape) and 354 (molestation) against the Ghuge and Korde, while Shelke was arrested for sending lewd messages to the victim.
Police are trying to nab the fourth accused who had sent lewd messages from an unknown number.
