NEW DELHI: Three youths were arrested on Saturday for the rape of a 15-year-old girl that took place in a hotel room in Paharganj on Friday night. The main accused, Rehan, claimed to be in a relationship with the girl for the past one and a half years.
Initially, the girl told cops that her boyfriend alone had assaulted her, but later accused two others as well. On Saturday evening, the girl revised her complaint, saying there were seven people in the room and all of them had raped her. After arresting three of them, the cops are looking for the absconding four.
The teenager told police that Rehan called her at her Old Delhi home at 4 pm on Friday and said he would take her to see a movie. Instead, he took her to a hotel, where he had already called his friends. They spiked her drink with alcohol and then took turns raping her.
The parents of the girl told TOI that they had tried to dissuade her from being friends with Rehan, who had a poor reputation in the locality, without much success. The mother confirmed she was with her daughter when the girl received a call from Rehan on Friday and left soon after.
The cops said that having checked the police records, they found that the main accused had a history of petty crime, including robbery and chain snatching. The rape survivor appeared to be unaware of his illegal activities.
After taking cognisance of the girl's version of what had transpired, the cops registered a case under IPC Section 376(A) (punishment for rape) and arrested Rehan. They said they had detained two others who were in the room where the incident took place.
