MURFREESBORO — A woman told police she was raped by a man who forced his way into her home Friday afternoon, according to records provided to The Daily News Journal.
Around 3 p.m. Friday, the victim told police she answered a knock on the door of her apartment on East Main Street and a gun-wielding man wearing a ski mask, gloves, black hooded sweatshirt and black pants forced his way into her apartment, Murfreesboro Police Officer Nicholas Sapp reported.
“(The victim) stated that the subject had a black gun and pointed it at her and forced her into the bedroom,” Sapp said.
The subject then put on a condom and raped the victim, according to the report. Afterward he took the condom and wrapper with him as he left.
In 2015, 42 forcible rapes and 12 statutory rapes were reported to MPD, according to statistics from the Tennessee Bureau of Investigations.
Murfreesboro Police Department offers rape aggression defense classes, MPD spokesman Sgt. Kyle Evans said.
“We offer free RAD classes throughout the year for women and children,” he said.
