VADODARA: A standard VIII girl was raped by her two cousins on the terrace of her house at Makarpura on Monday evening
The girl's mother told the police that her daughter was studying under a tin shed on the terrace at around 6.30 pm on Monday. When the woman went on the terrace after finishing her work. she saw that the the girl's cousin and a neighbour raping her. On seeing her, the two jumped from the terrace and fled.
The police said that both the accused were living in the same neighbourhood as the girl. The girl's mother also went to their house to confront them but they flatly denied the allegations. The rape survivor's parents registered a complaint at Makarpura police station. Her father owns an engineering workshop in the area.
The survivor's father has demanded that the police make a strong case against the duo so that they get maximum punishment for the crime.
Cops said that during interrogation the accused admitted that they have raped women in the past too but the cases were never reported.
"The interrogation is still on and we are trying to know if any other case has been reported against the duo," said A S Patel, in-charge police inspector, Makarpura police station, who is investigating the case.
The crime has happened just two days after a 25-year-old married woman from Maharashtra was raped by two auto rickshaw drivers at Khatkiwad in Navayard on December 17 midnight. The police had arrested one person in connection with that case but the two main accused are still on the run.
