A 13-year-old girl studying at a school in Navi Mumbai was raped by a teacher, following which her parents and local residents stormed the school premises on Tuesday, police said.
The school principal was arrested as she did not inform about the alleged offence to police after the girl’s parents told her about it, they said.
NAVI MUMBAI: Two relatives of the teacher who had fled to Delhi after raping his student in a Nerul school and getting her pregnant have been detained. The Delhi police are questioning the brothers-in-law of the teacher to find out about his whereabouts. The police had come to know that the accused had been hiding at the Delhi houses of the two relatives—his wife's brother and his wife's sister's husband.
A non-cognizable offence was registered against the school principal on Tuesday for failing to report the crime that took place in April and August. The offence was registered after parents protested at the school in the morning, seeking action against the principal.
DCP Prashant Khaire said, "The principal was detained and her statement has been recorded. She has been booked under Section 21 of the POCSO Act. A report will be submitted before the court, seeking order for further course of action."
"The accused is untraceable. Four teams are looking for him in Delhi, Lucknow and Kanpur," he added. The NMMC's education department on Tuesday issued a notice to the school for not having submitted a report on the incident.
Two days after a six-year-old girl was molested by a man, another case of raping a minor girl was reported. The suspect has been identified as Mahi, a resident of Gagandeep Colony.
The complainant, Rameshwar, a resident of Basant Vihar, said the incident happened yesterday when he arrived home. “He reached home and repeatedly knocked the door. However, nobody responded from inside. Since I left my minor daughter alone at home, I was worried. I scaled the boundary wall of the house and entered the room. I was shocked to see the suspect raping my daughter. As I intervened, he fled the spot,” he added.
Two days before, the Sahnewal police had booked a man for attempting to outrage the modesty of a six-year-old child. The suspect was identified as Vijay, a resident of Uttar Pardesh. The complainant, Naveen Rai of Amardas Colony, had told police that his daughter was alone at home on December 10 when the suspect forcibly took her to his room where he tried to molest her. The suspect is at large.
