Two women reported being raped in the overnight hours by unknown attackers within two miles of each other
New Orleans police said Saturday (Dec. 24). Police gave no indication that the sexual assaults were believed to be related.
The first incident was reported Friday at 11:36 p.m., about a block away from the University Medical Center hospital complex. Police said a woman, whose age was not disclosed, reported being raped by an unknown man in the 1800 block of Gravier Street.
About 30 minutes later, at 12:05 a.m. Saturday, the NOPD received a call reporting another rape 2.1 miles away in Gert Town. In this incident, a 26-year-old woman reported being sexually assaulted by two men in the 1300 block of South Genois Street.
Police provided no additional details on either incident.
