BAKERSFIELD, CA Sheriff investigators are on the hunt for a violent rapist, after a woman was beaten and assaulted in her Northeast Bakersfield home, and they need your help
"It really is everyone's worst nightmare,to wake up in the middle of the night and find somebody in your homeor even during the middle of the day, for someone to come into your home and confront you...unfortunately in this case that's what happened, the suspect was able to force entry into the home, unbeknownst to the victim", says Ray Pruitt of the Kern County Sheriff's Department.
In broad daylight, at 4:30 pm Thursday, the attacker forced his way into the victim's home and attacked her. Investigators say the woman didn't recognize the man, but was able to give them a physical description. He is described as being a Hispanic man, around 200 pounds, with a neck tattoo of an uppercase "B".
Sheriff's officials say they don't know if the attack was random or not. "We don't know why the suspect targeted this home or this victim, that is certainly something we are trying to determine, we're a little bit concerned, obviously this occurred late afternoon and it was still daylight hours which is kind of uncommon for these types of times to occur", says Pruitt.
What is clear to investigators is this man is dangerous and violent and needs to be found as soon as possible. If you have information that could help law enforcement catch this rapist, you are urged to call the Sheriff's Department at (661) 861-3110, or to remain anonymous, call Secret Witness at (661) 322-4040.
