CHILD RAPISTS 53

ONE of Poland’s most wanted criminals – who is accused of rape and child sex abuse – has been arrested by cops in Lancashire.
Marian Dorobek, 68, was arrested on Wednesday police in the UK received a tip off that he was on a ferry that was due to arrive at Heysham Port at 12.15pm.
The National Crime Agency and Polish authorities confirmed that he was wanted and that a European Arrest Warrant was being applied for, leaving cops precious time to nick the felon.
Dorobek, who was wanted in Poland after being convicted of rape and child sex offences, was arrested as he got off the ferry under Section 5 of the Extradition Act 2003 as the European Arrest Warrant had not arrived.
This is the first use of Section 5 in Lancashire.

Former priest Brian Spillane took advantage of homesick young boarding school students to satisfy his sick desires, then used emotional blackmail to ensure his victims kept quiet.
The pedophile told the boys no one would believe them if they spoke out - even telling one victim that the news would have a serious effect on his ill mother's health.
"All sorts of emotional blackmail was used," Crown prosecutor Elizabeth Wilkins SC told the NSW District Court on Friday.
The 73-year-old former chaplain at St Stanislaus College in Bathhurst is facing sentence for sex offences committed against 21 victims in the 1970s and 1980s.
Spillane is already serving a minimum 11-year sentence for previous convictions.
Ms Wilkins told the court many of the predator's victims in the latest case had been vulnerable and depended on the chaplain.
They were at an age where homesickness was a real issue.
"That was a major breach of trust," she told the court.
Spillane was convicted of 18 offences, mostly sexual or indecent assaults, following two trials last year.
Six of the assaults were committed on boys under 16.
The crimes ranged from kissing boys on the cheek, to grabbing one victim's penis through his pyjamas, to having anal sex with another.
In the dock the prisoner showed no visible emotion and sat turned away from the handful of former St Stanislaus students who were present with family members.
In harrowing victim impact statements they told of the years of hell they had endured as a result of the abuse, including psychological problems and self-medication with drugs and alcohol.
"I've had to watch the perpetrator not show an ounce of remorse, not admit to anything," one man said.
"What happened to me will haunt me for the rest of my days."
Defence barrister Tom Warr said some of the assaults were in the lower range of seriousness and were "one-off" events for certain victims.
But Judge Robyn Tupman said Spillane's behaviour was part of an ongoing course of pedophilic conduct towards young children in his care.
She is due to pass sentence on February 16.

NSW priest abused homesick students

A Waynesboro man was arrested Wednesday after having sex with a girl under the age of 13.
Kristopher L. Rebo, 33, was charged with rape of a child, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a child, statutory sexual assault, aggravated indecent assault and indecent assault.
The Franklin County Detective Bureau in conjunction with Franklin County Children and Youth, conducted the investigation. The child was interviewed at Over the Rainbow Franklin County, Children's Advocacy Center.
Rebo was taken to Franklin County Jail and held on $300,000 bail.
The preliminary hearing is scheduled for Feb. 14 at Franklin County Central Court.
Cops cuffed a Brooklyn man who admitted to raping his girlfriend’s 9-year-old daughter, officials said Friday.
Members of the NYPD Brooklyn Child Abuse squad arrested 29-year-old Phillip Payne after the child came forward claiming he had been raping her over the past two years, police said.
Payne also physically abused the victim’s younger 5-year-old sister in their Bushwick home, the child claimed.
The older girl told investigators that Payne — who lived with his girlfriend and her children — would punish her by ordering her to stand against the wall while he pushed nails into her palms — as if he was trying to crucify her, police sources said.
If she moved her arms, Payne would pinch her or beat her with a belt, she told police.
Investigators grabbed Payne on Thursday.
After being questioned, he made a full confession and was charged with multiple counts of rape, sexual misconduct, endangering the welfare of a child, menacing and assault, officials said.
A judge ordered him held on $200,000 bail during a brief arraignment in Brooklyn Criminal Court Thursday night.
Payne has a criminal record that includes a dozen prior arrests, including selling drugs in 2004 and robbery in 2009, police sources said.

“He was not going to escape punishment.”

Nicki Minaj‘s brother, Jelani Maraj, is opting to take his child rape case to court after turning down two plea deals.
Maraj was arrested in December 2015 when a 12-year old girl claimed that he’d been raping and sodomizing her for eight months. He was booked on first-degree child rape charges and first-degree course of sexual conduct against a child. Maraj has turned down two plea deals. The first deal was for seven years before he was indicted by grand jury. The second deal was for 15 years after prosecutors charged that his DNA was matched with semen found on the accuser’s clothes. Now that he has opted to go to trial, Maraj faces life in prison.
Maraj’s attorney David Schwatz tells Bossip, “He is choosing to go to trial because he is not guilty of these allegations and has faith in our system of justice.”
Pre-trial hearings begin later this month.
Nicki has yet to make any pubic statements about her brother’s case.

Nicki Minaj’s Brother Will Stand Trial For Alleged Child Rape Maurice Garland Feb 4 2017

A man found guilty of defiling an 11-year-old girl was on Thursday sentenced to life imprisonment by a Kilgoris court.
Micah Langat was brought before Kilgoris senior resident magistrate Amos Mokoross. He was acused of committing the offence on February 27, 2011 at Murkan Junction village in Trans Mara East subcounty, Narok.
The girl visited her aunt and was asleep with her cousins when Langat entered the room.
The girl said, “ When he knocked on our door without identifying himself I screamed. He said he would kill me, after which I slipped out of the house. He chased and caught me then defiled me.” The girl managed to escape and ran into the forest, where her aunt later found her.

Langat said he was arrested while going about his business and was unaware of the offence. He said he was notified about it at the police station and said he was framed. Mokoross said the evidence demonstrated that indeed the accused person had committed the offence and had therefore decided to sentence him to life imprisonment.

Life in jail for child rape Feb. 04, 2017, EDWIN NYARANGI

The increasing rate of reported rape cases against minors in Nigeria is becoming alarming to the extent that not even toddlers are spared.
Rape is now a recurring decimal in our society, with recent statistics leaving many wondering if there will ever be an end to the menace.
Rape is defined as sexual assault, usually involving intercourse, which is initiated by one or more persons against another person without that person's consent.
A victim who prefers anonymity while recounting her ordeal, when she was raped by their neighbour at the age of 14 said, the rapist who was to watch over her while her parents were away massaged her after the act.
"After he defiled me, he boiled water and massaged my private part to reduce the pain. He warned me not to tell my mother or she will kill me. Knowing my mother's strictness, I knew the best thing was to keep it to myself."
She said her mother didn't notice because she had five of them to worry about while her father was a retiree and could barely support them.
"That experience changed my life in so many ways. I still carry the scar of that event," she said.
A recent investigation by an organisation involved in conducting public opinion polls within the country, NOI Polls, revealed that nearly seven in 10 adult Nigerians that is, 67 per cent have decried the high incidence of teenage rape in the country, while three in 10 that is, 31 per cent personally know of a victim of child rape in their local communities.
The findings of the opinion poll further revealed that almost four in 10, representing 36 per cent, of adult Nigerians claimed that most often the alleged offenders involved in child rape were close family members, relatives and neighbours representing 33 per cent.
Half or 49 per cent of those that personally know a victim said they were usually children aged between seven and 12 years.
Mrs. Esther Akwu, a medical professional and Head of Social Welfare Department, Kuje General Hospital, whose department handled two cases in the previous year said, rape cases brought in by the police hardly ended in the perpetuators being prosecuted.
She said her department offered some kind of emotional counselling after the patient has been attended to by the doctor and in the case of a minor, like that of a three-year-old girl raped by a 25-year-old man, they offered counselling to the parents.
"Our job is to counsel the parents in this case. This might have happened because of the carelessness of the parents. Some parents allow their children to roam anyhow in the neighbourhood thereby leaving them at the mercy of men who molest them,"she said.
Once the doctor was able to treat the patient, conduct various tests - HIV/AIDs and other infections - to determine whether the patient was negative or positive, "we handle the emotional aspect," she said.
"As Nigerians we were taught to be free with neighbours but the world has changed. This is not the time to allow your child to go to people's houses anyhow, because you don't know the intention of some dubious boys and men around you," she said.
She said rape is under reported in our society, explaining that a lot of cases were covered up thereby jeopardizing the lives of the victims.
"Keeping quiet may have a negative impact on the victim's life forever; the person may not recover from it even in adulthood," the social worker said.
Mrs. Akwu advised parents on the need to teach their wards tips to help them overcome advances from men. Many have attributed the increase in rape cases to the high level of moral decadence in the society.
Others however blame the recurrence on weak institutions.
Lucky Nwakanobi, a Lagos-based lawyer, said the only way to break the silence is for parents to build stronger relationship with their children. This, he said, will create trust.
"Parents have big roles to play, if the silence is to be broken. Many children do not have confidence in their parents and so, prefer to bear the pain alone," he said.
The environment where children are raised is also something to be considered, he explained, noting that children from less privileged background are exposed more.
"At that level, they are not protected; they are left to fend for themselves, while their parents go in search of their daily bread.
"The upper scale children are usually left in the hands of nannies and guardians, they live a softer life. Children from such homes are closer to their parents so there are high tendencies that they will tell their parents, if such should happen to them," he said.
Nwakanobi stated further that the slow road to justice also contributes to the silence of rape victims.
"Rape is an offence, and in every criminal case, evidence is needed with reasonable doubt. We live in a society where getting evidence is not so easy sometimes; victims don't want to talk for fear of retribution or punishment. The person raped does not want to be stigmatised so, she is not eager to report or follow up the case,"he said.
He added that delay and corruption in the Nigerian judicial system may also frustrate the victim.
The way forward, he said, is advocacy and sex education that should be given to children starting from primary school.
"They must know that rape is a crime and when it happens it should be reported and more importantly justice should be served, because the only way rape victims can be compensated is for justice to be served," he said.
The prevalence of rape in Nigeria is a clear evidence that our morals have been eroded, said Alhaji Alhassan Abubakar Bichi, president of Association of Medical Social Workers of Nigeria (AMSON), adding that any society where values are eroded, social vices tend to be on the increase, of which rape is one.
According to Alhaji Alhassan, the society has not lived up to its responsibility, which is why rape victims do not come forward with their complaint.
This, he said, is a challenge for many social workers.
"Many victims don't report when they are raped because they are afraid of being criticized and stigmatised by society,"he said.
In some communities, he said it is a taboo for anyone to marry a rape victim.
"The society forgets that these women are victims and should get love and care but this is usually not the case," he said.
Though most believe that the bulk of the responsibility is shouldered by parents, to monitor and protect their children, Alhaji Alhassan strongly believes that religious institutions have a role to play in reducing rape cases.
"The pastors and imams must start talking about sex in churches and mosques if this issue is to be addressed,"he said.
Dele Omojuyigbe (Phd), a lecturer at the Nigerian Institute of Journalism (NIJ), Lagos, noted that, frustration emanating from lack of self-worth can cause rape.
"Unemployment brings frustration, so also does injustice, despair, poverty and others," he said.
