Porn Addicted Rapists 58

A man said to be among the UK's worst paedophiles blackmailed people online into carrying out "degrading" sexual acts, a court heard.
Cambridge graduate Matthew Falder, 28, admitted more than 100 offences, including encouraging a teenager to rape a four-year-old boy.
Falder contacted 50 victims online over seven years, posing as a female artist, and sharing images on the dark web.
It took about 30 minutes to list the offences at Birmingham Crown Court.

'Hurtcore' charges

Falder, of Edgbaston, Birmingham, a former geophysicist researcher at Birmingham University, admitted 137 charges, and denied another 51 which will remain on file after his not guilty pleas were accepted by the prosecution.
The number of offences makes him one of the country's most prolific paedophiles, BBC Home Affairs Correspondent Danny Shaw said.
Falder's case is said to be the National Crime Agency's first successful so-called "hurtcore" prosecution. Hurtcore relates to hidden forums on the dark web dedicated to sharing images and videos of rape, murder, sadism, torture, paedophilia, blackmail, humiliation and degradation.
His victims were offered money in return for sending him naked photos, the court heard.
Falder used the online names "666devil" and "evilmind" on websites such as Gumtree. He then blackmailed his victims into sending increasingly obscene images.
He also admitted charges of causing the sexual exploitation of a child, encouraging the rape of a four-year-old, making and distributing indecent images of children and voyeurism.
Images that Falder shared included photographs showing children and babies being tortured, the court was told.
Ruona Iguyovwe, of the Crown Prosecution Service described Falder as "highly manipulative".
"He clearly enjoyed humiliating his victims and the impact of his offending, which carried on over several years, has been significant," he said.

'Deeply shocked'

Matthew Long, head of operations at the NCA, thanked the victims for their bravery in coming forward.
Falder is expected to be sentenced on 7 and 8 December.
A spokesman for the University of Birmingham said: "The university is shocked to hear of the abhorrent crimes committed by a former post-doctoral researcher.
"We have no reason to believe that the offences are in any way connected with the university."
A University of Cambridge spokesperson said Falder was a student there between 2007 and 2016.
"We continue to offer support to anyone who has concerns about the case," they added.

Gumtree 'full support'

"The university is deeply shocked and saddened by this case."
Gumtree, which was named in the court case, said it was pleased that Falder had been brought to justice.
"Gumtree simply does not tolerate the exploitation of users or the illegal misuse of our platform," a spokeswoman said.
"… Our dedicated safety team has lent its full support and co-operation to the NCA in their investigation of this case, which has been active for several years. Gumtree takes the safety of its users extremely seriously and we are committed to making the site as safe as possible."

BENTON — Two men connected to an ongoing child pornography and sexual assault investigation appeared in Franklin County Court.
Defense attorney Nick Brown appeared for Joseph A. Ryker, who is out on bail, and told Judge Thomas Tedeschi when asked the status of the case that discovery was ongoing. The two also briefly discussed a motion Tedeschi approved on Sept. 14 allowing the state crime lab to test DNA samples. The order indicated that the samples would likely be consumed as a result of the tests.
Ryker was arrested in April on multiple counts of child sexual abuse as well as grooming and indecent solicitation of a minor.
According to the information sheet in Ryker’s court file, he is charged with multiple counts of aggravated sexual abuse of a child between 13 and 17 years of age. The court alleges that Ryker orally and anally penetrated an unidentified minor between November 2016 and March of this year. Aggravated sexual abuse of a child is a Class 2 Felony.
The state is also charging Ryker with grooming and indecent solicitation of a minor for sending illicit messages to the victim via Facebook, a Class 4 felony.
Listed in the people’s discovery were multiple items retrieved from Ryker’s possession, including bedding, computers and a video identified in the document as child pornography.
Michael Hobbs also appeared in court for a pretrial conference. Thomas Mansfield represented Hobbs. He told the court that his client would need another 60 days to prepare as there was evidence at the state’s attorney’s office that needed to be reviewed.
Hobbs is charged with multiple counts of child pornography. According to the information sheet in Hobbs’ court file, the court alleges that Hobbs “knowingly used a child … under the age of 18 year to appear in a video tape or moving depiction by computer in which (the child) was depicted while engaged in the act of sexual penetration with the defendant.” Both child pornography charges allege that Hobbs orally penetrated the victim. Both are Class X felonies.
He is also charged with multiple counts of aggravated sexual abuse of a child, as well as grooming. The state alleges that Hobbs used the social media site Grindr — which advertises itself as as social networking site for gay, bisexual, "curious" and "queer" men — to seduce his underage victim. Grooming is a Class 4 felony.
The state alleges that Hobbs’ activity occurred between October 2016 and April of this year.
Franklin County Sheriff Don Jones said Hobbs' and Ryker's cases are connected as they both share a victim in common. Jones said he was not sure if there would be further arrests related to the same case, as the investigation was ongoing.
Ryker is scheduled to appear in court again at 1:30 p.m. Dec. 7, while Hobbs will return at 1:30 p.m. Dec. 14.
Danny Ray Murphy was emotional as he read a letter to his victim in the minutes before he was sentenced to 40 years in federal prison.
The 3-year-old boy, whose name Murphy still does not know, was repeatedly raped and both images and video of the abuse were sent to Murphy. The jury who convicted Murphy heard during trial that he had been messaging back and forth with the child's abuser on social media for months, asking for more images and video.
He planned with the abuser to meet to sexually assault the child together, and at one point suggested using the Santa Rosa County fire station where Murphy worked, because it had a soundproof room.
"Not only are you a victim, you're a survivor, and hopefully you never know what it is you survived," Murphy read during sentencing.
The chats started in late 2016 when Murphy responded to a Craigslist advertisement about sexual fantasies.
The conversation turned to sexually assaulting a young boy, and continued for months until Murphy's arrest. Undercover investigators arrested another man in connection to the crime, Charles McConnell, and took over his online identity to track down Murphy.
Murphy asked for leniency based on the fact he was a first responder, a former Marine and a man without a criminal history. Murphy likened himself to a computer program that runs efficiently during its whole life, but temporarily malfunctions.
But Chief District Judge M. Casey Rodgers didn't agree, calling it one of the saddest and most tragic cases she had seen. Rodgers and Assistant U.S. Attorney David Goldberg read portions of the chat messages between the child's attacker and Murphy, maintaining that even though Murphy did not physically touch the child, he solicited the production of child pornography in asking for more images.
During trial, Murphy took the stand and initially said he was only sending the messages in an attempt to save the child. He said he thought if he could arrange a meeting, he would be able to notify authorities.
Though, in sentencing, Murphy said he doesn't know why he committed the crimes.
"I can't begin to understand the depravity of mind and heart you have," Rodgers told Murphy.
Rodgers sentenced Murphy to the maximum allowed sentence for the crimes, which is 40 years. Upon release, he won't be allowed to own a computer, cellphone or use the internet, and he will be on lifetime supervision.
A third man charged in the same case, Jonah Authement, pleaded no contest to his charges this week. Authement also was charged with a slew of child pornography offenses for messaging back and forth with McConnell about meeting to sexually abuse the child. He also was arrested based on undercover investigators' messages to meet up for the acts.
Court records show Authement will be sentenced Dec. 14.
McConnell was charged with 38 offenses including sexual battery, promoting sexual performance of a child, and child pornography possession.
His case is still ongoing in Escambia County Court and his next docket day is scheduled in December.

BATON ROUGE, La. (AG Jeff Landry) - Louisiana Attorney General Jeff Landry announced additional criminal charges have been brought against Michael Wayne Tipton of Alexandria.

It is a disturbing trend that those who view and distribute child pornography often are also hands-on offenders,” said General Landry. “My office will not rest in our efforts to arrest child predators and help rescue their victims.”
Tipton was arrested by the Louisiana Bureau of Investigation last week on possession and distribution of sexual abuse images/videos of children (under the age of 13).
Upon further analysis of the evidence obtained through this investigation and arrest, Tipton has been additionally charged with one count of first degree rape, four counts of oral sexual battery, three counts of possession of sexual abuse images/videos of children, three counts of distribution of sexual abuse images/videos of children, one count of production of sexual abuse images/videos of children (under the age of 13), and three counts of production of sexual abuse images/videos of children (over 13, but still a minor).
Tipton was booked into the Rapides Detention Center, where he is currently being held on a $600,000 bail.
“Oftentimes people think that once an alleged perpetrator is arrested the case it over; but as it is in this case, we continue to track leads and investigate further,” said General Landry. “Our team’s efforts to get justice is aided heavily by the press sharing the news and the public sharing their information and concerns with us.”
General Landry’s Cyber Crime Unit has investigated thousands of computer crimes that have victimized children from infants to 16 years of age. To report child exploitation, call the Louisiana Bureau of Investigation at 800-256-4506.

A 'dangerous' Birmingham paedophile who abused a baby girl has failed in an Appeal Court bid to get his jail term cut.
Craig Mathew Palmer, 34, of Blakesley Grove, Stechford, was caged for 13 years at Birmingham Crown Court on February 2
Condemned as a 'danger to the public', he was ordered to serve an extra year on licence following his release.
He was arrested after a referral from authorities in America about sharing of indecent images online, Lord Justice Hamblen told London's Appeal Court today.

Police searched his home and seized two mobile phones, which contained more than 1,000 sick images of children.
These included 362 photos in the most obscene category, and some of them were of a baby girl abused by Palmer.
He recorded the assaults for 'his own sexual gratification' and distributed the images to others.
Palmer also incited a nine-year-old girl online to engage in sexual activity.

He pleaded guilty to making indecent photographs of children, possessing prohibited images and extreme pornographic images.
He also admitted causing or inciting child prostitution or pornography, distributing indecent photos of a child and eight counts of sexual assault.
Palmer was of previous good character and his lawyers argued his 13-year jail term was far too tough.
But Lord Justice Hamblen, sitting with Mrs Justice McGowan and Judge Michael Topolski QC, rejected Palmer's complaints.
He concluded: "The total custodial term arrived at by the judge of 13 years is not manifestly excessive."

A Hudson man accused of molesting a child was found with child porn he downloaded off the Dark Web, according to charges filed last week in St. Croix County Circuit Court.
Prosecutors charged 31-year-old Joseph B. Rosenbush with two counts of sexual assault of a child and two counts of child porn possession. He was held on a $25,000 cash bond set Oct. 12 by St. Croix County Circuit Court Judge Edward Vlack.
According to a criminal complaint:
Authorities received an Oct. 10 report from St. Croix County Family and Children's Services that a Hudson student had disclosed a sexual assault to a school staff member.
Detectives interviewed the boy, who described two instances of abuse involving a Rosenbush, a man who was living at the family house.
The boy said he was lying in bed when Rosenbush entered the room using a cellphone flashlight and touched his genitals. The incident was preceded by a similar incident at Rosenbush's house in 2016.
The boy's mother said her sons had alerted her to the abuse. The woman said the disclosure happened after she borrowed Rosenbush's phone to post photos and noticed child porn when she accessed the phone's photo gallery. After seeing the photos and videos, she asked the boys if Rosenbush had touched them.
The woman kicked Rosenbush out of the house four days after learning of the abuse. She said she waited because she was confused and afraid about the situation.
In an interview with police, Rosenbush denied the abuse allegations but admitted to possessing images and videos on his phone depicting porn involving pre-pubescent boys. He told police he downloaded the files off "the deep web" — a sector of the internet not indexed by search engines.
Investigators described uncovering "a couple hundred" such images, according to the complaint. Rosenbush said he downloaded the files out of "curiosity."
An Oct. 17 preliminary hearing was held in the case.

A New Jersey man who was outed in 2012 for posing as a Navy SEAL on dating sites has been convicted of producing and possessing child pornography, according to the U.S. Attorney's office in New Jersey.
Gregory John Schaffer, 38, was found guilty Oct. 20 on two counts of making child pornography and one count of possessing it after a three-day trial at the Newark federal court, according to a release.
Schaffer was charged in December 2012 with sexually assaulting two young girls between 2005 and 2010. His May 2013 indictment, reviewed by Military.com, shows he was also accused of coercing two child victims into sexually explicit behavior so that he could film it.
Evidence at trial shows that in 2010 he filmed the sexual abuse of a 12-year-old girl in a tow truck office in Union City, N.J., and, in a separate incident, filmed a 14-year-old girl in a hotel room, according to the release. Schaffer kept video recordings on his laptop and a backup storage drive, officials found.
He also had in his possession other images of minors and sexually explicit videos.
Schaffer first received attention in the military veterans' community when retired SEAL Don Shipley called him out for stolen valor, posting a photo on his Facebook page of Schaffer sporting a Navy dress uniform with a SEAL trident in a profile photo for a dating site. Schaffer's user name was "usnavyseal1," and his profile also alleged he had a Ph.d.
According to Hudson County View, which covered the trial, Schaffer was found to have posed as a talent scout, swim instructor, and producer as well as a SEAL on various dating and social media sites.
Blogger Jonn Lilyea wrote about Schaffer's conviction Monday at the popular veterans' blog This Ain't Hell, which has followed the phony SEAL's plight since he was initially outed as a faker.
"He used his fake SEAL persona to lure the young girls into doing his bidding," Lilyea wrote. "It only took them four years from his indictment to his trial. The wheels of justice."
A spokesman for the U.S. Attorney's office told Military.com Schaffer's sentencing is set for Feb. 7 at 11 a.m.

An online tip led authorities to arrest a Las Cruces man accused of sexually abusing children and recording the abuse, court documents said.
According to court documents, a Dropbox account with the username “John Bevel” led authorities to find 14 files that depicted child pornography that were uploaded between Feb. 23 and Sept. 24.
Authorities traced the IP address associated with the account to Bevel’s home in Las Cruces.
During an interview with authorities, Bevel, 42, admitted that he uploaded and downloaded child pornography, court documents show. He also told authorities he took nude photos of a 13-year-old girl, but that they weren’t sexual in nature, the documents said.
Last week, authorities met another victim, who told federal agents that Bevel groomed her for sexual abuse beginning at the age of 8, the documents said.
The girl said Bevel sexually abused her, recorded it and uploaded it onto his computer, the documents said.
KFOX14 spoke with Bevel’s landlord of five years, who said he’s still in disbelief of what may have been going on next door.
“I don’t pry into his personal life I never do that with a tenant but you kinda get to know someone when you live right next door to them and I would have never thought of this,” Glen Hales said.
KFOX14 discovered that Bevel lives less than one block away from an elementary school.
Bevel was arrested on three counts of sexual exploitation of a child. He was booked into the Dona Ana County jail without bond.
