CHILD PORN ADDICTION 22

Cape Town - A paedophile convicted on thousands of charges of possession of child pornography will be sentenced in George.
William Beale faced 18 644 charges of possession of child pornography and will be sentenced in the Thembalethu Regional Court.
The case has been going on for three years. Beale was arrested on January 13, 2015 as part of an international police operation to clamp down on a child pornography.
The investigation, dubbed Cloud 9, has led to arrests in Cape Town, Durban, Port Elizabeth and Midrand.
Beale, from Plettenberg Bay, pleaded guilty to all charges. Following his arrest he was released on R10 000 bail and relocated to Kimberley where he lived with his brother.
During court proceedings, it was revealed that Beale, 39, suffered from paraphilia - abnormal sexual desire. He also had a troubled past.
It was also revealed that after he completed school Beale lived on the street and depended on stealing food and other essentials to survive. He used substances such as mandrax, dagga and opioids.
Beale admitted that he had urophilic interests - sexual pleasure from the sight of, or thought of urination - developed at the age of 11.
Women And Men Against Child Abuse has been monitoring Beale’s case.
"Each of the 18 644 images is a crime scene of a child being brutally violated," said director Amanda Jordan-Friedmann.

CHILD PORN ADDICTION 19 12 ottobre 2017

A paedophile snared by an undercover police officer during internet chats with what he thought was a child was jailed for six years.
John Deevey from Speke believed he was chatting to a 12-year-old girl in the West Midlands during highly sexualised conversations and promised to visit her.
Eventually he claimed he was on the way to see her but never turned up and ended their chats.
When police raided his home in Speke , they found him sitting in his underpants and a t-shirt viewing porn web sites on a large monitor projected from his laptop.
Some were showing active chat sites – one with girls in their teens.
When Deevey’s computer equipment was analysed almost 9,000 indecent images of child abuse and extreme pornographic images were found, some of which he had distributed to other perverts.
Sentencing the 58-year-old, Judge Robert Warnock described him as “a dedicated and determined paedophile” who had an “unhealthy and totally unacceptable interest in young children.
As well as downloading indecent images of children and distributing some he had had internet chats with someone he believed was a 12-year-old girl and sent her “foul pictures of your genitalia.”

Judge Warnock said: “I am wholly satisfied as to your intention and your intention was to corrupt, groom and sexually abuse a young child.
“The content of the messages between you and the under-cover officer are highly revealing and tell me you present a risk to others.”
Liverpool Crown Court heard that the undercover officer was approached on line via the KiK messenger application on September 12 and told him she was 12 years old.
He said “12 is OK” and claimed to be an engineer and a bass guitarist playing in two bands and sent a photograph, taken in his home, showing three guitars.
Further conversations took place on later days that month and he sent her two pictures of his penis and he spoke of what he would like to do to her and arranged to meet her on September 28.
He pretended he was on the way to see her in his Skoda that day but then his messages ended abruptly and she realised he was not going to turn up.
Police went to his home in Bramhall Close and found him sitting on his sofa watching the porn sites.
He told them he had used KIK for years and described it as “fantasy and role play”.
Deevey claimed that the girl had told him she was 19 and accepted he had arranged to see her for sex but denied intending to follow it through.
He pleaded guilty to 11 offences involving downloading child porn including 966 in the most serious category, possessing a total of 8988 indecent images; distribution of images in all three categories; attempting to incite sexual activity with a child and attempting to sexually communicate with a child.
John Rowan, defending, said that Deevey had 22 previous convictions, mainly for dishonesty and none for similar offences.
He said: “He tells me the shame he feels about appearing before the courts for this type of thing as the worse shames he has ever felt.
“Immediate imprisonment will punish him but he wants it known that he is punishing himself every day and will continue to punish himself for a long time to come.
“He is genuinely remorseful for what he has done and throws himself on the mercy of the court.”
The court heard Deevey had felt suicidal while in prison on remand “but he knows he has no-one to blame for his position but himself”.
Mr Rowan said the father-of-five, who came into the dock using two crutches, has serious health problems including Crohn’s Disease, emphysema and two slipped discs which have caused constant pain for years.

He added: “His mobility problems, breathing problems and pain killers mean in effect he was housebound and socially isolated.
“He was lonely and this led to depression and he turned to the internet for some sort of solace, some sort of company.
“Obviously quite an inappropriate style of company and he accepts things escalated. As he delved deeper down the rabbit hole he felt quite unable to get himself out.”
Mr Rowan said that Deevey had not contemplated leaving his home and was never going to meet the girl, calling it “fantasy”.
He said the former motor mechanic had been abused while in care as a child which led to him turning to crime at a young age but he had not offended for 15 years.
Deevey was ordered to sign the Sex Offenders Register for life and made the subject of an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) — For years, a Kentucky principal lived a secret life.
Long a respected community leader, Stephen Kyle Goodlett regularly attended church and mentored children. But, prosecutors say, he also covertly searched the confiscated student cellphones of teenage girls for nude photos, saving them to thumb drives to be viewed, uploaded and traded on the internet.
Court documents say investigators found evidence that Goodlett — who taught at Elizabethtown High School south of Louisville before his 2012 hiring as an administrator at nearby LaRue County High — possessed and transported child pornography from 2005 until his arrest last year.
Goodlett, 37, pleaded guilty earlier this year to federal charges of transporting and possessing child pornography and awaits sentencing in Louisville. The two charges carry a penalty of five to 40 years though his plea agreement recommends he serve nine years in prison.
His downfall came after a young woman who had attended LaRue County High School learned that naked images she had taken for her boyfriend when she was 15 had been uploaded to a pornography trading website based in Russia. She went to Elizabethtown police, who sought federal help.
Authorities determined the IP address of the device used to upload images to the website matched an account registered by Goodlett, according to a federal complaint. It added the initial police review of Goodlett’s devices found 60 examples of child pornography. Records show a forensic review found 436 images and 11 videos.
The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children later identified images of the Elizabethtown woman as well as a naked girl between 10 and 14 years old in Goodlett’s Dropbox account, the agent said.
After signing a waiver of his rights and agreeing to a recorded interview with state investigators, the former high school principal acknowledged finding the images on confiscated phones, transferring them and sharing them online, authorities say.
In addition to the federal charges, Goodlett is facing 63 state felony charges related to child pornography.
In federal court documents, Goodlett’s attorney said his client has already lost everything important to him from an addiction to pornography.
“Kyle is a broken man. He is also a sick man. There is no other viable explanation for the behavior that he engaged in ... He knows he has betrayed the trust of his community, his students, his colleagues and his family,” attorney Christopher Spedding said in a memorandum asking the judge to accept the sentence recommend in the plea agreement.
The plea agreement noted Goodlett has accepted responsibility for his actions. He must also register as a sex offender upon release from prison.
Attorney Joseph Mattingly, who represents several former students who filed lawsuits over the photos, said they aren’t commenting on the sentencing recommendation but that they still feel angry and betrayed. He said they suffer from anxiety because some photos can still be found online despite law enforcement efforts to remove them.
“Not only was this a great breach of confidence with a school official and an outrageous course of conduct by him, but it’s something that will not likely end just because the perpetrator is convicted and is sentenced to prison. These images unfortunately persist and they’ve got to deal with that,” he said.
Goodlett’s lawyer said his client has cooperated with authorities since his arrest, explaining how he operated and which website and file-sharing functions are used for such activities. He also helped identify victims and began therapy for his addiction while on pretrial release, his lawyer added.
His therapist, Patrick Holley from Holley Counseling in Lexington, wrote in a letter to the judge that Goodlett shows remorse and has empathy for his victims.
“He rather unusually articulates gratitude for his sexual misconduct being revealed, so that he can use this time to grow as an individual,” Holley wrote.
Others also wrote letters asking the judge for justice with mercy when deciding Goodlett’s punishment. Many of the letters, which were redacted to remove names, described him as a good man who made horrible mistakes while in the throes of a pornography addiction.
“I can’t help but think as talented as Kyle is if he gets a handle on his addiction then he can turn things around. He won’t ever work in a school system again, but I know he can make a contribution somewhere,” said one letter-writer, who described Goodlett as one of the best high school principals he had worked with. “I have seen his talent and know that he can make a contribution if given a chance.”

THIS is the relentless pervert caught with more than 17,000 indecent snaps of children – after being banned from using the web.
Yet prolific paedo Carey Lyons is not heading for prison as he has already been held in custody for so long.
Carey has been in the dock many times for his grim obsession, including in 2013 after he had been nabbed with TWO MILLION images.
And in 2000 he became was the first man in Northern Ireland to be brought before a court and jailed for child porn offences.
Belfast Crown Court was told no treatment programme could fix the 59-year-old’s vile behaviour.
The jury heard he has 68 previous convictions mostly linked to indecent images of children.
In court he was given three years for his latest offences, committed between 2014 and 2016.
The judge was told his then home on Belfast’s Ormeau Road had been searched by cops last year over concerns he had breached a Sexual Offences Prevention Order (SOPO).
That raid turned up items including a laptop, hard drive and other digital devices.
Lyons, who says he is attracted to girls aged from eight to 12, revealed he had bought the equipment a month earlier.
Cops found 17,753 indecent images and videos of varying severity before they stopped counting.
Lyons pleaded guilty to a total of 22 offences, including multiples charges of possessing indecent images of children. He also admitted breached a previously imposed SOPO.
Judge Patricia Smyth spoke of his long history of offending, re-offending and breaching licence and SOPO conditions.
She noted comments from a Probation Officer who said he deliberately re-offended so he could be returned to the only place he feels safe – prison.
Lyons was ordered yesterday to serve 18 months in custody and 18 months on supervised licence. As he has already served his custody period on remand, he was due for immediate release.
Judge Smyth ordered that he undertake the Internet Sexual Offenders Treatment Programme to be delivered on one-to-one.
He has also been ordered to live at an approved address and is banned from having unsupervised contact with anyone under the age of 16.
In May 2000, he was jailed for six months after admitting making and distributing indecent pictures of children.
Cops had found compact discs, containing up to 50,000 still and moving indecent images of children, hidden under his bed.
In 2013, Lyons was given a three year probation order after admitting downloading over 2.2 million indecent images of children.
The court was told that he had convictions for similar sex offences dating back to 1973.

A teenager caught with almost 14 hours of child abuse videos has been sentenced to 15 months detention.
William Stewart, 19, who also downloaded 3,000 abuse images, was traced to a Perth caravan park bedroom as part of an FBI operation.
A sheriff refused an appeal for anonymity by his parents, who said they feared reprisals from fellow members of the travelling community.
Stewart was also placed on the sex offenders register for 10 years.
Depute fiscal Tina Dickie told Perth Sheriff Court: "The accused was 17 at the time and was a school pupil with no previous convictions.
"He lived at Double Dykes caravan park in a three-bed static caravan with his family.
"The police received intelligence from the International Law Enforcement Agency that an account registered to the accused had been accessing indecent images of children from the internet."
The fiscal said the videos showed children from a few months old to the age of 16 being subjected to sexual abuse by adults.
Stewart, from Perth, admitted possessing indecent images of children at his home between 23 November 2014 and 27 August 2015.
Sheriff Lindsay Foulis told Stewart: "This is a large amount of images and a significant proportion of the images are in the most serious categorisation."

An ex-Knox County music teacher was sentenced to 10 years prison time for possessing child pornography, according to the Knoxville Police Department.

Brian Corrie Patton65, of Knoxville, pleaded guilty to two counts of sexual exploitation of a minor. Patton taught music and is listed on the Knox County Schools website as the 2014 Pre-K through 4th grade Pleasant Ridge Elementary School teacher of the year.
Patton was arrested January 24 after a local computer store told the Knoxville Police Department Crimes Against Children Task Force that they discovered child pornography on a customer's computer.
According to Knox County Schools spokeswoman Carly Harrington, Patton was placed on administrative leave on January 27. He elected to retire February 2.
Police said they found more than 2,000 images depicting child sex abuse on Patton's devices.
Once released, Patton will be required to register as a sex offender with the State of Tennessee Sex Offender Registry.

A LEEDS woman who admitted a string of charges in connection with child sex abuse images has been told to expect a prison sentence

Michaela Sheldrake, 40, admitted a total of nine charges when she appeared at Leeds Crown Court.

Sheldrake showed no emotion as she replied “guilty” to the charges read to her after changing her pleas on the morning her trial was due to start.

Sheldrake, of Noster Grove, Beeston, admitted two charges of taking a total of 356 indecent photographs of a girl aged under 16

The court heard three of the photographs were classed as category B and 353 were category C. Sheldrake also admitted two charges of making indecent photographs of a young boy in connection with two images classified in category A - the most serious category - and five in category B.

Sheldrake admitted one charge of inciting a girl aged under 16 to engage in sexual activity and one charge of engaging in sexual activity in the presence of a girl under 16.

Sheldrake admitted possessing 2,578 indecent images and 110 movies of children on a mobile phone.

She also admitted distributing indecent photographs of a child and attempting to pervert the course of justice by encouraging a child to provide false information to police.

Catherine Silverton, for Sheldrake, said her client had never been before a court before and asked for sentencing to be adjourned for the preparation of a pre-sentence report.

Miss Silverton said the case has been going on for almost three years from the date the investigation was launched.

Releasing Sheldrake on conditional bail ahead of sentencing on a date to be fixed next year, Recorder Patrick Palmer told her: “I’m going to adjourn your case for so that a psychological report and a probation report can be prepared.

“The fact that the case is being adjourned should not be taken as any indication of sentence. All options remain open.

“I regard custody as almost inevitable in your case, you must understand that.”

An autistic man caught with 90,000 images of child abuse was spared jail after a court heard he “would not survive prison.”
Brett Walker was said to have had an “insatiable appetite” for the sick videos and photos, featuring children as young as six being raped, which he downloaded over a 10 year period between December 2007 and July 2016.
The 27-year-old, of Highfield Road in Rock Ferry, was given a 16 week jail sentence, suspended for two years, at Liverpool Crown Court.
Walker had admitted three counts of making (downloading) indecent images of children, possessing a total of 91,169 indecent images and one count of possessing animal porn.
Of those images, 968 including 255 videos were rated as Category A, the most serious according to sentencing guidelines, while 976 were Category B and 88,152 were Category C.
Louise McCloskey, prosecuting, told the court: “As a result of an ongoing operation by Merseyside Police a particular IP (internet protocol) address from a computer was identified and was designated as having viewed and downloaded indecent images of children.”

The court heard that led police to an address which they searched on July 20 last year. After computer equipment was examined and the material recovered, Brett Walker was arrested and interviewed. Ms McCloskey said: “He said he had no interest in children with no underwear on and said he was not that way inclined. He said people interested in these things should get help and counselling, and be chemically castrated.
“But when he was asked about his own internet porn usage he said ‘no comment’ and ‘that’s private’.”
Walker was interviewed again after further examination of the computers, and became “very distressed.”
Ms McCloskey said: “He said he could not put his family through it and he needed help, and was a ‘f****** idiot’.”
The court heard Walker admitted downloading the indecent images on peer to peer sharing site the e-Donkey Network, and told police “he knew it was wrong.

However he claimed he had no sexual interest in children but could not provide any explanation as to why he had downloaded the abuse images.
John Ballam, defending, said his client suffered from “extreme autism” but wanted help.
He said: “The fact is he has clear problems which he wishes to address...
“He’s not going to survive in prison and he is certainly not going to learn any lesson in prison.”
The court heard Walker had been assessed suitable for a sex offenders’ course based in Preston called the “New Me” programme.
Judge Clement Goldstone, QC, sentencing, told Walker suggestion he had no sexual interest in children “may have been a defence mechanism.”
He said: “You are an intelligent young man who has significant problems.
“One of those problems was that over a 10 year period, beginning when you were 17, you had an insatiable appetite to see pornographic imagery, varying from the least serious to the ultimate in seriousness and perversity....
“I have no doubt that someone of your intelligence fully understood that the type of offending... has victims. The victims are those who are exposed and exploited because if there was not such a high demand for this pornographic material those children would not be at such risk – but they are.”

But Judge Goldstone said Walker’s autism, willingness to seek help and remorse meant he could suspend the sentence.
Walker was ordered to attend the sex offenders’ course and to attend 20 Rehabilitation Activity days with the Probation Service.
He was also ordered to sign the Sex Offenders’ Register for 10 years and made subject of a Sexual Harm Prevention Order severely limiting his internet usage.
A man caught with more than 35 hours of child abuse videos has been jailed for eight months.
Scott Angus, from Dundee, was also placed on the sex offenders register for 10 years after admitting collecting the material over almost two years.
Police recovered six devices, including a USB stick found outside Angus's bedroom window, containing 386 videos and 2,709 child abuse photos.
A court heard 211 of the videos were at the most serious grading level.
Depute fiscal Eilidh Robertson told Dundee Sheriff Court that Angus had previous convictions for drink driving and soliciting prostitutes.
Angus, 51, admitted downloading indecent images of children between August 2015 and June this year, and possessing indecent images on 6 June this year at his home.

'Shame and regret'

Solicitor advocate Kris Gilmartin, defending, said: "This was done over a lengthy period and there's a not insubstantial number of images.
"He expresses true shame and deep regret and has a level of insight in to the harm that this type of offence causes.
"He recognises he has a problem and is very, very keen to deal with it.
"He has now lost his employment and he will lose his marriage."
Sheriff Alastair Carmichael told Angus: "The period of this offence was almost two years, an ongoing course of conduct by you.
"I've come to the conclusion that there is no alternative to a custodial sentence."

A Richland man is accused of having more than 20,000 pictures and video clips of child pornography on his computer, including one of the most downloaded series in the world featuring a Tri-City girl.
Joshua P. Gault, 38, was caught when a friend working on his laptop discovered several videos with titles about children and various sex acts.
While analyzing all of the images, investigators also found evidence that Gault had sex with an unconscious woman in his home, court documents said.
The woman, who believes she may have been intoxicated at the time, told authorities she did not remember the incident and did not give Gault permission to have sex with her or record her, documents said.
Gault is charged in Benton County Superior Court with nine sex crimes. He recently asked to postpone his trial to March 26.
Court documents show that the friend was using Gault’s computer when they found between 50 and 75 videos with suspicious titles, and opened two to see what appeared to be young kids engaged in sex acts.
Police searched Gault’s home and seized the laptop computer, a desktop tower, cellphone and other electronic devices. Many of the images found on his devices “were of known and previously identified child victims,” including the preteen girl who was the subject of the “Vicky” series, documents said.
That girl, who now is an adult, was raped repeatedly by her Richland father during weekend visits more than 12 years ago. He made her dress up like a hooker and talk dirty, and bound her with ropes while he documented the sexual abuse, which went on to become one of the most prolific series in child-pornography circles.
Prosecutors allege the pictures and videos in Gault’s possession also included kids who were toddler age.
Detectives linked Gault to an earlier investigation during which an unknown person sent an illicit video — showing a preteen girl having sex with an adult man — to an undercover officer, court documents said. That image allegedly came from Gault’s IP address, and later was recovered during the forensic examination of his laptop.
Gault is charged with second-degree rape, voyeurism, first-degree dealing in depictions of a minor engaged in sexually explicit conduct, and one count of second-degree and five counts of first-degree possession of child porn.
He has been out of custody since posting bond on $100,000.
Until the case is resolved, he has been ordered to have no contact with minors and to stay off the internet unless it is for “school purposes,” documents said.
An "adult porn addict" who followed online links to view indecent images of children has been given a suspended prison sentence.

Adam Topley, 32, of Tilbury Rise, Cinderhill, was sentenced at Nottingham Crown Court (November 3).
His lawyer, Matthew Smith, said Topley had "an addiction to pornography generally".
Police executed a search warrant at his home on August 28 this year and arrested him in connection with making and possessing indecent images .
His laptop and iPhone were seized for examination.

The court heard one image found on the equipment was of a girl aged between eight and ten years, and there were two images of a girl between 12 and 14 years.
Dawn Pritchard, prosecuting, said there were 12 images of extreme pornography, ten of which were videos.
She also said the defendant was convicted 12 years ago of 20 offences of this type and went to a young offenders' institution.
He was before the court this time for making an indecent photograph of a child before August 29; a similar charge in the same period; possessing extreme pornography at his home on August 29.
Mr Smith there had been "no child specific search terms", or a long and significant history of material downloaded involving extreme or child porn.
He said the images came about after the defendant was looking at adult porn and followed the links.
"He pleaded guilty at the first opportunity," he said. "His remorse is genuine. He is very aware he walks a fine line because of that previous conviction."

Judge Rosalind Coe QC put him on the Sex Offenders' Register and gave him a sexual harm prevention order for ten years.
And she imposed an eight-month prison sentence, suspended for two years, 120 hours of unpaid work and ten rehabilitation activity days.
She said he pleaded guilty at the magistrates' court to the three offences.
"These are, as you know, serious matters," she told Topley.
"In 2005 you were convicted regarding 20 counts of a similar nature and sent to a young offenders' institution for six months. Those convictions are really where the gravity of what you face today lies."
She acknowledged she had received letters from the defendant's mother, father and wife.
An NSPCC spokesperson said: “Topley’s actions have fuelled demand in an online trade that benefits from the horrific abuse of vulnerable victims.
Indecent images of children are far too easy to share and more needs to be done to stop horrific material like this being distributed further.
“That’s why the NSPCC is calling on tech companies, government and law enforcement agencies to eradicate this growing issue at its source.”
Anyone who is concerned about a child’s welfare can call the NSPCC helpline 24/7 on 0808 800 5000, while children can contact Childline for free and in confidence on 0800 1111 or via www.childline.org.uk.
